Martha's Vineyard is remarkably diverse, and offers a number of different lodging
options to choose from. A few things to keep in mind as you start to schedule your trip!
1) BOOK EARLY!!! Most accommodations will book up by March or April for weekends
in September. The earlier you can book your rooms, the easier it'll be!
2) The Island can be expensive if you're not careful. We're very sensitive to that fact
and have listed below a host of options for people to consider in order to keep your
costs down. Again - book early to make certain you're not having to settle for a
$400/night a room because everything else was booked up!
3) Also, do your research on the different accommodation options available to you -
many inns don't come with TVs, cleaning service, or other amenities you may take for
granted. And it's always worth talking to a person on the phone to gauge the size and
condition of the room you're about to book. Over the next few months, we'll post some
of OUR thoughts about the different lodging options, as well as try to coordinate a
block of rooms at one of the more prominent locations in Edgartown. Check back later!
NEW!!! - We've managed to reserve a block of rooms in Oak Bluffs at the Wesley Hotel.
It's a short cab ride away from the church and reception site but is easily the best deal
that we found on the island. Please feel free to check them out and ask about the
Lavoie/Schuster wedding. Also, we've blocked off rooms at the Clarion Inn which,
while more expensive than the Wesley, is within easy walking distance of the
reception. There are many, MANY other options to also consider, so please feel free to
use our spreadsheet to help research different hotels on the Island!
4) The ceremony and reception site are both in Edgartown, within walking distance of
many of the cute B&B's in the area. However, these are also some of the more
expensive options. The inns in Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven may require a cab ride
back at night, but may be more affordable, as well.
5) The ferry to the mainland is only 45 minutes. Even if you can't find a great option
below, we've scheduled the wedding early enough that those who wish to can take the
ferry or the Pied Piper back to Falmouth and either stay on the Cape or make their way
back into Boston.
For those wanting to stay at an Inn, Bed & Breakfast, or Hotel, the following link has a
list of accommodations on the island. Click on the name of the inn that you're
interested in and it should take you to their website.
For those interested in renting a house for the weekend, be aware that most houses
rent by the week, but can be much more affordable if you plan on making a vacation
out of the trip! Some places will rent just over the weekend, as well, so it never hurts to
ask!
The following links will take you to some of the more prominent vacation rental
agencies on the island:
Cyber Rentals
MV Vacation Rentals
Sandcastle Realty
Sandpiper Realty
For those seeking an even more rustic route, there's the Martha's Vineyard
Campground in Oak Bluffs, as well:
Martha's Vineyard Campground
And, lastly, for those interested in finding hotels or inns on the mainland, we'd suggest
finding something close to Woods Hole or in Falmouth (as that's where the ferries
would drop you off!) Any hotel site would probably suffice to lead you in the right
direction (Expedia, Orbitz, or Hotels.com) You can also try Cape Cod Travel.com to
track down some other options.
Good luck!
